4 IDE devices

Hi,

how should I connect my two IDE HDs and my IDE CDR and IDE CDR-burner?
Should I put the two HDs on one IDE channel and the CDR and burner
on the other channel?

Thx

depends on what you'll be doing with the devices.
If you want to copy from CD to CD put them on different channels b/c IDE can only read OR write to one device at a time

Agree, although it's almost norm to place the primary hdd (with os) as Primary master and then the CD-Rom as Slave. On the secondary channel have the CD-RW as master with the 2nd hdd as slave. This is about the most flexible combo you can do.

I would go like this:

Primary IDE:
Hard drive 1 (master)
CD-ROM (slave)

Secondary IDE:
Hard drive 2 (master)
CD-RW (slave)

Your HD-to-HD transfers will be at their optimum. CD-ROM to CD-RW copying will be at optimum.
