CPUs i need to cool:
1. Athlon XP 2100
2. Duron 1ghz
3. Duron 800mhz
ya i know the Durons are ez to cool, so mostly its about the 2100. i like things to be as cool as possible, so i want to use the best heatsink i can on each cpu
Heatsinks i have available
1. AMD-brand retail heatsink from Athlon XP Barton 2500+
Features:
Aluminum with *Copper Bottom
*Very Fine Aluminum Fins
-Overall Heatsink is small and compact (height, width, length)
-60mm Fan
*AMD trusts it to cool a 2500+
2. AMD-brand retail heatsink from aforementioned Athlon XP 2100+
Features:
All Aluminum
*Very Fine Aluminum Fins
-Overall Heatsink is small and compact (height, width, length)
-60mm Fan
AMD trusts it to cool a 2100+
3. SVC GC68
Features:
All Aluminum
Thin Aluminum Fins
*Overall Heatsink is wide and long but -short
*80mm Fan
Budget conscious users seem to trust it to cool better than many AMD stock HS (i use another GC68 on an Athlon XP 2000+ myself)
4. "Generic" AVC-brand heatsink pulled from an HP-brand computer with an Athlon XP 2600+
Features:
All Aluminum
-Thick Aluminum Fins
*Overall Heatsink is wide and tall
-60mm Fan with fan shroud
*HP trusts it to cool a 2600+ (worked just fine for me before i replaced it with an all-copper HS)
i know this is an inexact science, but help me to guess which heatsink are better than others by ranking them in order from best to worst. i put asteriks* next to the features i think are in favor of the HS, and - next to those that i dont like.
noise is a distant secondary factor, and i assume the gc68 with its larger fan would be the quietest...
