*woman doesn't stop*
*cop tases woman*

I fail to see the problem here.

You also fail at life. Go outside once in a while. This isnt a police state, this is America, moron. People that taze weak old ladies instead of subduing them easily with cuffs arn't looked at well by anyone with a shred of ethics.

If the guy can't manage to arrest such a tiny woman without resorting to using a taser, he has no business being a cop.

If the cop wrestled her to cuff her and injured her, you'd be crying too...

No, and its sad you dont see the difference between the two.

How is it different? What if he talked her after she was *obviously* being belligerent? This wasnt a "sweet old lady". This was someone who was going to disobey EVERY command the officer gave. If you watch the video, this is what she was doing. Will you even admit that she was 100% in the wrong? I dont care if your 72 or not, you listen to the fucking police officer.

So who crossed the line first? The officer who tazed the woman, or the woman who was being belligerent and violent with the police officer? There is always a cause for every effect.

If she wasnt pushing him around and acting like a spoiled child, then what would the cop of done? Probably nothing at all.

She was using her age to bully the police officer. The police officer didn't put up with it. Kudos to him!

So the gist of your argument is, "but she started it?"

With an attitude like she had I bet you a $100 it was a long time coming. It's just too bad it took her 72 years to get the shocker!

Yes, she started it with a POLICE OFFICER. An ENFORCER OF THE LAW. She knew what she was getting into.

Yes she started it and that is the gist of it. If you don't do as a COP asked then you ware risking a fight with a copy. It is that simple. As for tazors causing permit damage or death. So, can restraining someone to cuff them. He could have accidentally broken her arm or something. They could have fell on the ground and hit her head hard enough to killed her. They could have fell into traffic. Everything has risks. I have seen some old people with Alzheimer or similar problems, put up a good fight like a kid throwing a tantrum. So, don't under estimate what they can do. I approve of what the COP did and hope she pays the fine / does the time and never does anything like that again.

Maybe next time she won't stop without a good old fashioned high speed chase.

Then they take her licenses, fine her, and jail time. Do it again larger fines, longer jail time. Keep doing it death penalty. If someone knowingly keeps breaking the law then the punishment is not great enough, so keep upping it. I don't believe in slap on the wrist punishments.

So what do you believe in? Do a crime do alittle time, do it again do the same amount of time. Repeat to you die of old age. I don't think that will work.

While perusing this thread I kept thinking "what if I was that cop, and how would I have handled that situation?"

Bottom line: There was no "right way" to handle it, given the circumstances as they unfolded. No matter what that cop did, short of letting her go on her merry way, it would have been perceived as police brutatilty simply because of her age.

It seems to me that the longer that confrontation went on, the worse it was going to get. It seems to me that that lady was getting more wound up as time went on, and considering where all of it was happening, keeping that seemingly uncontrollable yet seemingly frail lady from creating a life threatening situation was to me the highest priority. And to that end, betting between a physical confrontation with an totally unpredictable outcome over a tasing that offered a much more predictable and favorable outcome seems a no-brainer to me.

If a cop that size can't pin the arms of an old tiny woman behind her back in 5 seconds he's a failure as a cop and a man.

It would have been a simple matter for her to follow the officers instructions. She did not, therefore she deserved to be tazed. Everyone knows this.

No tears here. However, if he had body slammed her; yes that would be excessive use of force too, much the the same as tasering her.

Exactly, and on the latter count, so are the pansies defending him here.
