4 eVGA versions of the 8800GT

I was checking the eVGA website and it appears they made 4 versions of the 8800GT with different clock speeds:

8800GT @ 600mhz
MSRP: 260$
-can be preordered on frys.com for 230$ (don't know shipping cost)

8800GT Superclocked @ 650mhz
MSRP: 270$
- Sold by newegg for 280$ +6$ shipping.

8800GT KO @ 675mhz
MSRP: 280$

8800GT SSC (Super Super Clocked) @ 700mhz
MSRP: 290$

The card's ram has also be overclocked by varying amounts...

The point of this is, don't just rush to buy the "better deal" on an eVGA card as it might not be the better deal. I also saw some price gouging... the newegg superclocked version sells for 10$ above the MSRP that eVGA said... so it is a good idea to wait a few days.

That's why I don't buy EVGA video cards. Too many different versions to keep up with. I'd take BFG first. Same warranty too.

Step-up is not very useful IMO with the limitation they out on it.

well, i just seen alot of threads where you have those "Amazing unbeleiveable deal, this one is so cheap..." where that so cheap card ends up being the stock version... while other sites have better deals on an OC version.

Right I gotcha

I just don't like having to remember which card is clocked at what frequency all the time.

Just tell me if it's overclocked or stock lol.

Just gotta wait for the benchmarks and see how much performance you get per dollar. I'm not sure if 25mhz from 675 to 700mhz is worth another 10$. I do wonder though, how does the 700mhz 8800gt stack up to the gtx, and have the shaders been clocked higher as well ? They go together with the coreclock speed, right, but is it the same on factory overclocked cards ?

I agree and I also wonder what the shaders are clocke at.

yea... I am also waiting until there are reviews that actually say what benefit the superclocking gives... maybe it is worth more then 10$ per bump, maybe less... we will see...

I wonder if all those models are on the 8-layer PCB? I'd pay a little extra just to not have the 6-layer variant.
