I'm intrigued by this...am I correct in that it lets me throw in 4 ide drives and it connects to my pc via a usb cable and shows up as one giant drive?

It looks straight forward as to house external drives.
I would add a front 120mm fan as intake for additional cooling, if needed.
It looks like a large USB card reader but for HDDs.
I had external HDDs but decided that mobile racks were more practical, IMO.

Entered into my wish list and at $99. One way to move a RAID config from computer to computer. A way to make older 80 gig IDE drives useful again.

Remember, it's still RAID. 80GB + 500GB drive = 160GB.

Well, if you need speed definately USB is a no-no. eSATA all the way!

If you're just archiving data, why not...

do you think you can link up some of the drives and do a raid, for example"

80 + 20 = 100
60 + 40 = 100

i wonder if it can work that way. then it would be very useful cause i'm sure a lot of people have old drives lying around that they can use in such a manner.

i also found this on newegg...seems to be a similar product but its only $130
