4.7 and WVGA?!?!?!

I thought the 4.5 Sprint SGS2 was bad.

One of the great wonders of the phone market is that Apple is the most popular phones in the older demographic while they push high PPI screens that forces those old folks to use reading glasses to type on their phone.

Meanwhile competitors are making phones with such low PPIs they make a Jitterbug look like a Razr and most of the love they get is in the geek community.

WVGA at 4 or 4.3 I can live with (and still dream of higher resolutions). WVGA at 4.7 is epic fail.

I don't think it's that bad. It still has a higher pixel density than e.g. the iPhone 3GS. 800x480 screens are still dense enough where there's something to gain by making them larger, IMO.

At any rate, hopefully they will raise the resolution limit in the next version of WP7. All WP7 devices supposedly have a hardware image scaler so it shouldn't be too big of a problem to support multiple resolutions.

The big question is what will come first: Android having a composite-based interface or WM7 having a phone with Bionic hardware (dual-core, LTE, HD screen).

Meanwhile iOS should have both this year, but we are left waiting to see when it adopts the innovation the other two already have- larger screens.

The mobile market is fun.
