Arma 2 Pack includes the 2 above is $26.99

I never played it, but heard it was good, there is a demo on Steam for it as well.

What I've heard is that it's extremely realistic. Doesn't sound like my type of game but some people love that.

I just checked the Gamespot review. A military sand-box game? hmm, sounds interesting. Might have to try.....

The review complains about some bugs in the SP campaign; maybe they've been ironed out.

Jesus Christ, I buy every game on sale anymore.

Wow, such a huge price disparity between ArmA II, and ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead. Keep in mind, the latter is not an expansion pack; they are two totally separate games. Operation Arrowhead is the newer one.

The problem is that, while the $8 ArmA II is certainly tempting, pretty much everyone is playing Operation Arrowhead now. 40% off is still a nice deal, but $23.99 isn't nearly as good as $7.99. I dunno... decisions, decisions.

And yes, for anyone wondering, ArmA II is a military simulator, and it can be very difficult as well as intimidating. It doesn't matter how good you are at CoD or BF. If you want to pull of stuff like this though, in an extremely realistic environment, then it can be very rewarding.

Those that are fans of Ghost Recon and such would probably enjoy this too. Do they have co-op missions?

I enjoyed the game up to a certain point.

In the original campaign, at one point your squad member gets ambushed and kidnapped. You try to go save him and get kidnapped yourself. You have to watch a cut scene of your squadmember getting assassinated by the kidnapper, then get freed by your platoon later on while the kidnappers escape. Then you have to go hunt these guys down before they flee the country. Never could find them on a huge 100x100km map... You are supposed to talk to the locals and try to get there where abouts and trap them in before they can flee, but they always got away on me.

The mission was very boring to me, because you basically are just driving around the huge map trying to figure crap out, and if you don't do it in 2 hours or so (not game time, real life time), they get away... Then you have to revert, and start over...

Thats when I quit playing.

arma2 was god awful. It ran like dog balls on high end hardware (at the time of release), and still managed to look relatively shitty. Pass.

It's been patched since release. I downloaded the demo, and I can run it on "High" settings with my 5770 at ~40 frames/sec.

The game is still a hardware killer and it seems to strive for realism in graphics and does not look bad nor look great imo.

It's extremely focused on being realistic and there is a steep learning curve. You'll either like it or hate it. I enjoy it, but don't play it too often as you need to be able to commit several hours at a time to enjoy it.

my recollection is it was a lot cheaper. Like less than $10 for the combined package.

I waited too long to get it tho. Too many other games purchased.

It's far beyond the scope and realism of anything in the Ghost Recon series, so fans won't necessarily be mutual; very different games.

I'd rather shoot zombie nazi bears from space while riding an armored dinosaur, but thanks.

I LOVED the original Operation Flashpoint. So I bought ARMA 2 with Operation Arrowhead during Christmas steam deals. I still haven't played it.

Would anyone recommend the DLC? British and Private Military? Does anyone even play these DLC? I'd be looking to go on and do some CO-OP.
