Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes is $5, 75% off

I have no idea how the game is, I bought it during the holiday sale and haven't gotten to it yet as I'm still chipping away at all the games I bought then lol

It was a daily deal during the holiday sale. According to my Steam account history I paid $2.99 for it on Jan 2nd

I bought it yesterday off the 75% deal. Was curious enough about it to pay the 5 bucks heheh.

Look interesting enough, I might give it a try tonight.

I played some King's Bounty (which Grotesque Tactics seems to be the same genre) but couldn't get into it after I got to the second map...the marshes...it was fun but got repetitive quickly.

It is similar to KB, but think more Final Fantasy Tactics than KB for the tactical combat map. I started to play it, but in the end I have too many other games vying for my time. It's worth the $5 if you will actually start playing it.

If you're like me with a 1,000 game backlog, there's no need to "get it before it's gone" that people like myself feel when games go on crazy sales. I wouldn't hold out for $3 instead of $5 though, that seems silly.

I didn't get it during xmas sales because I was getting tons of stuff already. I've barely scratched all of what I made off with during xmas sales. I'm in no rush. I can wait.

They just released a decent sized update for this which prompted me to fire it up again (I bought it during the Xmas sale). It added some Steam achievements and it appears like they added some more graphical features. The update mentioned specular maps and one other type (bump?). In the very first mission, the maiden you have to rescue now appears like a blob of light with a head, arms, and legs because there's so much bloom. I don't remember being turned off by that the first time I tried it.

I beat this over the holidays, I think its worth getting for a few dollars. It's got decent writing even if it is pretty kitschy, it had me laughing a couple times. Gameplay was enjoyable enough, I like sRPGs though so it had that going for it. Ran into a few bugs last I played, hopefully some of that's been addressed.

I couldn't get into this game. I just couldn't get past the floaty scrolling.

The translation has issues and over all I don't think the humour translates well either. I could got past that and the clashing art styles, but the user experience was just awful. Otherwise it seems to be a decent tactical RPG.
