Opinions on Wargame: European Escalation? I've had it on my wishlist because it looks great visually. But it's harder to tell the gameplay.

BTW, it would be awesome if games like that could be modded to let you control one of the units like a first person shooter.

I seem to remember that the Three moves ahead podcast liked it when I listened to that episode:

It sounds cool and I'd pick it up if I thought I had time to play it, unfortunately I don't

81% gamerankings; I started a 'worth it' thread on Steam, general feedback is 'well worth it if it's the type of game you want, it's not a clickfest.

I would like to play HoMM6, but being an Ubisoft game, I am worried about what kind of DRM I would need to put up with. Does anyone know what they used in that game?

Is the M&M Heroes 6 going to be enjoyable for someone who immensely enjoyed II & V (I didn't really enjoy III and IV was not bad to me)?

I played HoMM 3,4,5 and a bit of 6

its weird how you liked 2 and 5...but did not like 3 and 4 since 5 is really closer to what 3 used to be.

6 is a mixture between how HoMM 3 used to be but with the graphics and some stuff taken from HoMM 5.

I kinda liked it, since i was a fun of HoMM 3 and liked what they were trying to do with 5, but they seem to have done it right.

didnt play MP though, cant say much really, but i thought it was good although the price is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too high.
for me its a 30 bucks game, not 50...

If it's from Steam, is shouldn't have anything extra. I haven't bought it though.

Isn't M&M Heroes 6 nearly a year old? No reason for that to still be a 50$ game... even half price it's too pricey when we all know it'll be 10$ by next Christmas during the sale.

Loved HoMM VI and it beats HoMM III/V imo.

Ubisoft DRM was a one-time activation service with infinite offline play if memory serves. Install, create a Ubisoft account, activate product, go offline = profit. Staying connected online gave you a cloud base for saved games and some inconsequential extras.*

*If Memory serves.

The sale is going to drive me to buy Wargame.

Heroes 6 is fine. I played through the entire campaign and enjoyed it. The thing is, you have to decide whether you want to play online or off from the beginning and stick with it. If you switch, you will lose campaign progress, as well as access to the dynasty weapons and traits that you have unlocked. I haven't played in a while, but AFAIK, there are still bugs. Nothing game-breaking, but some that are irritating.

Clash of Heroes is well worth it, for those wondering. I love that game and have played it on 3 separate systems.

Considering Wargame but need to know if the unit strenght is paper/rock/scissors. Clash of Heroes sounds interesting but I really have no clue about the M&M games.

Clash of Heroes is a casual game, not like Heroes 6. It's no more complicated than Bejeweled or Plants vs Zombies.

I went ahead and bought MM Heroes VI (Deluxe version). However, I'm having trouble with entering the CD key. Basically none of the two keys provided on Steam (Deluxe & Kingdoms keys) were accepted on the Ubisoft logon screen.

What am I doing wrong here and what can be done about it?

I would disagree that it's "casual". In PvZ I could do the same setup every time and win easily; Clash of Heroes you need to carefully plan your unit placement in terms of offense/defense in order to be able to win, especially if you do your best to not lose any of your special units so you don't have to re-stock them. Plus the unit placement is randomized each fight.

It's not a "traditional" M&M game, but it's a good full length game in it's own right. It was originally on the NDS and went over to Xbox Live and I think PSN, and the HD edition is on the PC.

Loved the demo; absolutely loved it.

Full game has a bug whenever a wall gets made you can't do anything (can't move troops, can't skip turn, etc)... all you can do is retreat, lose gold, and try the fight again.

Waste of $8. That one bug makes the game unplayable. No way I'm going to play the same fight over and over and over til it finished without a wall being made.

Wow that's crazy! I have never experienced any bugs with the game :(

That said, I did some searching and I found this fix in the Steam forums:
Woohoo!! - finally found a solution that's working for me. Find the application file in the Steam folder > steamapps > common > might and magic clash of heroes. right click on the application file, go to properties. go to compatability tab and select Run this program in compatability mode for Windows XP (service pack 3) Been playing all day and building walls with no more issues. Hope this works for y'all

Other people in that thread stated it worked for them.
