Hello, I was wonderin if you could recommend an excellent 4.1 speaker system to me. I am going to enjoy music and gaming on this future system.

Klipsch Promedia 4.1s... if you have the money to spend. Otherwise, look at Altec Lansings offerings.

i'm willing to spend up to i guess $250 considering i'm thinkin off getting that 9700 radeon for $349. i could probably go even higher than that too IF NEEDED but dont really want to

ebay.com
Search for "BA7800"
Bid on a NEW Boston Acoustics BA7800 set ($60+).

Note: I am NOT selling ANYTHING (and never have) on eBay, so I am NOT endorsing my own auction. These excellent speakers are simply unavailable from any other source to my knowledge.

1) Klipsch Promedia 4.1 ~$230 (power/quality)
2) Altec Lansing 641 ~$130 (quality)
3) Logitech z-560 ~130 (power)

The Logitech and Klipsch are rated higher as far as wattage than the 641's. But the 641's and Klipsch are the ones that feature tweaters (allow for more distinct high pitched sounds). I personally got the 641's as I wanted quality and since it's till over 200 watts, it was more than enough power for me. At full volume I can shake the whole house. So I can't even imagine what the Klipsch would produce, but if you want to save money and retain quality, I'd get the 641's.

You maybe able to find the promedia 4.1s for around 130 at circuit city.

ditto

Check your local Circuit City for clearance Klipsch 4.1's first. I heard they may be pretty low in cost, and supposedly, they're really costly (the 5.1's were $399 last time I saw an ad).

641s are discontinued.. sadly 🙁
i'd get them over logitechs anyday...

641s has power alright... dual 6.5" subwoofers...
they might not put out as much bass as logitechs.. but logitechs just boom all over the place with no accuracy... JMO
still a few places on pricewatch that offer the 641s though...

I would definately get Klipsch. If you want good sounding (and I mean GOOD SOUNDING) Bass, then the 4.1's will suit you well. The Logitechs are powerfull but too BOOM BOOMy for my taste. I gotta have those crisp highs and those deep lows. I have the Promedia 5.1's and I would have to say you cant go wrong with the 4.1's or 5.1's by Klipsch. They are awesome. 500 WATTS BABY!

I've got a set of the Klipsch 4.1's and they do have deep, powerful bass, but it's not the "boomy" sounding "cheap bass" ... it's really fleshed out and well-sounding. Got them paired with a SB Live! and it works great. IMHO, they're worth the money that I spent on them.

I think the 641's were replaced by 995's. They have 200 watts and are THX. Sound better than the Logitechs but cost more too.

well, if i decide to go for the klipsch speakers what other competitors exsist that are in the same price range? and Klipsch changed there 4.1s to 4.2s. why? honestly why?

For more bass baby, more bass.

Klipsch doesn't really have any competitors in the PC speaker market... maybe the top shelf creative speakers?
