3ware Controllers - all hard drives have to be the same?

I am about to fork over the $$ for an Escalade and just realized my hard drives aren't exactly the same. Will this be a problem? For instance 30 gb maxtor, 30gb Ibm and 40gb IBM? I can use 30gb on all three...

Sorry, raid 5 setup, 3 drives. I have 2 30gb 7200rpm and 1 40gb 7200rpm. Not all same brand though. I was told that the controller would freak with different brands of drives.

you'll have 60 GB of space.

theoretically, the controller does not care. the capacity and speed will be based on the capacity of the smallest drive, and the speed based on the speed of the smallest drive.

to reiterate, it WILL work, but performance will not be ideal
