Michael Savage leaves radio show after legal win

Michael Savage's talk show left the airwaves Thursday after the conservative host won a legal battle with his longtime employer, although his attorney said discussions with new networks are already under way.

More than 8 million people listen to Savage's show each week, placing him behind only Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in ratings

Savage posted a message on his website Thursday evening under the headline "Free at Last!" that said he was free to work with any station or network from now on. He said he "will not be heard on the radio for some time."

Horowitz says Savage has been fighting the network for two years to get out a contract that was 10 years old and prevented the host from switching employers. Horowitz said the agreement lacked protections afforded to artists and entertainers under California law, and tied Savage to Talk Radio Network indefinitely.

Horowitz said Savage spent more than $900,000 fighting his case but was awarded more than $1 million in arbitration. The agreement also calls for Savage to be able to obtain all archived tapes of his show.

Thread closed until OP submits a more accurate title.

Not a fan of his obscene politics but I'm glad he got from under the yoke of his employers. Contracts like that are rarely fair, sometimes even illegal.

Your title is a misrepresentation of the facts of the matter. Your quotes from the article make that very clear. Edit: When you take care of the title correct the spelling of his name too.

I thought government getting in between a contract made by two private parties was a no-no.

OP I demand you change your bullsh*t title to represent the truth. He was not "knocked off" if he wanted to leave and left.

I decree as your king that it be changed immediately.

Falacious title for posterity:

3rd string Right Wing blowhard Micheal Savage knocked off air

I'm sure Perknose will be here momentarily to address this situation.

As someone else said, the govt did this and savage just took advantage of it regardless of whether it was his plan all along. Savage is for the state, as long as it is the state he wants. I liked him more than hannity and limbaugh because hannity is retarded, limbaugh is not Hannity dumb, he just can't think on his own, and savage is just bat shit crazy and rather entertaining. Any entertainment I get from hannity is when he causes me to snicker. I know I am delusional and rather dumb, but Hannity is a fucking tool!

That said, I think savage is really meant to be an entertainer even if he doesn't realize it. I love it when he says he hates neocons actually. I love his nationalism, but I don't want it forced on me and I don't want any of his listeners especially to try to either.

Typical McOwned thread. Full of nothing but troll from the title on down.

Too bad the "3rd sting" just became the 1st string otherwise you might have a point. But, it seems, you are pointless once again.

Are you speaking of arbitration? Most contracts call for arbitration in order to settle disputes. it's cheaper than court.

As for Savage, I will miss him on my commute home. Hope he's back soon.

Savage lives in San Francisco, the bastion of Progressive Liberalism. I don't know how he does it, but he won't move, he loves the area, just hates the politics there.

Savage is the kind of guy who would live in SF just to have something to complain about. :)

He's utterly nuts, but still my favorite talk radio host, because he's entertaining and at least tries to be fair some of the time -- unlike dishonest hacks such as Hannity.

I detest Michael Savage, but one good thing about him is that he pisses off people like the OP.

Savage is a total propagandist asshat.
He spends more time stroking his own ego than actually discussing anything relevant. Like Rush he is just another dog whistle.

He doesn't even live anywhere near the city. He lives in Larkspur. Almost 2 counties distant. (and Cali is not exactly a small state)

No one liked him much back in the day in the city either. Which is why he probably left and grew bitter. A total failure (and rather paranoid violent) in the personal realm is what he is known as by his old "friends" around north beach.

To folks like savage though, its everyone elses fault of course.

Just another bitter queen who couldn't hang in the city..

Hopefully he retires soon. The world has no need for more haterism. The market is plenty cornered on that.
