To monitor the speed between a client and the AP, watch your download speeds. 😛

If your Network is peer to peer there is no countable way to do so.

You can try to play with Airsnare, http://home.comcast.net/~jay.deboer/airsnare/

If you are using Real Server topology, most servers have the capacity to so.

If you need better control adding RADIUS server is a good idea.

not even close to free, but you can monitor/configure/manage Cisco AP's through the WLSE or the new controller that I haven't used much.
