I have a black mac book (2.16ghz C2D) and running snow leopard. OSX is telling me that the condition of the battery requires me to replace the battery soon. Apple is selling them at $130, which is what I had remembered. Amazon had a few for $50 - $60.

so, has anyone tried one of the third party batteries? Are the apple batteries that much better?

Does anyone have another website to look at for apple batteries?

my dad tried them - they suck. he bought one, and it turned out to be defective as well as counterfeit (color was off, it was protruding out of the battery slot, and it stopped charging after a few days). we exchanged and bought another cheap battery from another vendor (both were on amazon) and again, we got a counterfeit/crap one.

stick with the official ones quite honestly.

we couldnt believe our luck, how we had gotten TWO freaking batteries, both counterfeit and defective. i hate how apple charges so much for their goddamn battery. now i know why they have built them into all the iphones and current mbps and made them non-removable.
