The Astro Pad. Found it at the CompUSA in Kansas City - and they had a ton of them. Not the best controller in the world, but when you consider that it is < $3 and you get that extra 10% off today and tomorrow...nice and cheap. These were just marked down here today and rang up wrong (along with the Casio 900mhz phone w/caller id & call waiting caller id, that was also just marked down to $20). So, watch what price they ring up at if you get one....

Finally, I think I get to post a hot deal. These puppies are $20 at BB & Circuit City.

<< So it was rang up wrong, not really marked down then...? >>

I think he meant it rang up at a higher price than it should have been

To clarify - rang up wrong as in they marked them down today but had not changed the price in their system. All of them had the $2.88 (?) price.

Better off getting a Sega controller...probably if it's going to be in primary use, but for me, since I won't have 3 other people playing that often, it makes economical sense to spend $3 on a cheap, but seldom used controller.

Wish they still had some 4x memory cards left....picked one up 4 weeks ago on clearance there for $15.

I've heard bad things about 3rd Party controllers...only the Quantum ones (but they were the only kind out for a long time)..that they'd short all the ports on the dreamcast and do it consistently. I once bought a 3rd party controller, and one of the buttons became jammed after only mild use in only a week. Just spend the extra 5 bucks and get the Sega one. It's great.

Mage, tell me where I can get an authentic Sega one for $8 and I'll snatch up a ton of them and egay them.
I've heard the horror stories also, but I'm wondering exactly what people did that caused that? Plug in or unplug while the system was on? I'd like to really hear a first hand account of someone that it happened to and what they did that caused the port blowout.

it's always somebody who wants to buy a rollsroyce to go to the grocery store. actually interact makes 75% of the dc controllers under different brand names. even the sega pad is raggedy. my triggers are both broken--it's a faulty design to begin with. $3 is fine for some know-nothing[edit: guest] that is gonna treat those controllers with less-than tenda luving care. besides, moronic sega is not getting me to pay one more red cent for their crabby peripherals. i hope they burn in hardware yell. the saturn controller was the best, and they killed it for an inferior design. sony didn't do that either
plus i been using those 800 mem cards($7.44) for a year with no prob

i posted about it a while back, around the same time target first started clearancing big time(october?). long gone in most areas, but if you can find a target with them(interact mem cards) in the gaming peripherals section, they may scan at $3.44 or less.
they may have to call somebody if they just scan "clearance". don't let them just guess what price it is. make them call.

I'm kind of put off from 3rd party controllers.. I have a dream shock controller that I had gotten bundled with Ecco the dolphin. It is a great fit and feels nice but the stupid thing has a tendency to disconnect itself repeatedly (always get "memory card accessing" messages) and the vib function only works if you turn it on within 3 seconds of booting up.. add to it the buttons randomly recalibrate and reconfigure themselves every 15 minutes.. Sheesh.

yeah, and the right trigger's gonna break if you use it also. still don't regret buying it as much as if i'd paid $29.99 for sega's crut--the ergonomics with two broke triggers are still better. in the games that allow it, i plug the card in the sega and the pelican(another subsidiary of interact btw) in port one. it's why i haven't taken daytona back yet
