3rd gen eclipse doing 12s in the 1/4mile @ gateway raceway in illinois

yes, there are faster cars out there, but this sounds like the first MAJOR upgrade for the 3rd gens.

has anyone seen it, or know more about it? we don't know if it's a 4-cyl or a 6-cyl, but a stock 6-cyl gets low 15s to high 14s. the car *looks* stock and has stock rims/exhaust. supposedly he spanked a camaro pretty bad too.

My best guess would be a 6 with a blower (not a turbo- probably would be a bit too much compression).

According to Turbo Connections there is a turbo'd V6 in Swansea. This is a great step forward. At the present moment aftermarktet parts for the 3g are scarce, but once we get some we should be able to hang with the big boys.

I'm not too surprised. Its a good accomplishment tho as not many people are really playing with the 3G Eclipse motor.

I still don't like the car overall and I'm gonna wanna see how much boost and what type of reliablilty that comes along with the turbo kit. I'd still rather have a Prelude

edit - oh yeah, I want to see a STOCK 3G Eclipse GT hit a high 14. Otherwise I've seen them get dogged by GTi's and Celica's all the time on the street.

I'm in southern illinois, where is gateway raceway? I know there is a gateway around here but I thought it was across the river in missouri. Now swansea is about 45 minutes from my house, gimme an addy and I'll bring back pics

I have been to Gateway Internation Raceway in Illinois before. Little bit north of St. Louis, not much though because you can see the arch from the track if I remember right.
