Be personable.

You aren't going to get in with your skills for a few weeks, your best shot is through their personal lives.

Check for wedding rings, pictures of kids and SOs on desks and bring it up.

I feel like I've been having really bad luck ever since I started a new job. I made myself look dumb a few times and I disappointed some new team members by not being able to answer some questions. I plan to work harder, learn what I don't know, bounce back and not give up. I am in training right now. Anyone here start really bad but was able to eventually pick things up and do well? Are my worried justified?
I know first impressions are hard to break out of.

Don't sweat it. You're not going to be there long. I suspect your walking papers have already been submitted. If the boss asks to talk to you...especially on Friday, you'll know you're done.

OR

Since you're "in training," it's expected that you'll need a few days or weeks to become fully productive. Most people fuck up a bit on a new job...as long as you don't make a habit of it...nor fuck up too badly, you're probably fine.

i had a coworker that sucked for 2 years. the next round of layoffs couldn't come soon enough, and when it did, things worked out for the best.

If you suck I'll be sure to kill you with kindness. And by kill you, I mean firing you from the job.

Just try to do your best. Most important is to have good relations with your co-workers and manager or else its gonna be miserable.

When I started out at a restaurant for part time I was awful during the first two weeks and the manager was getting impatient. After the first two weeks at the restaurant, it was non stop fun.
