3rd computer as a 'drive'

Is there any way to use my older pentium 3 computer as an external hard drive or hard drives? (it has 4 hard drives in it) without needing windows xp or the such installed? It seems like one could emulate what external usb drives are doing in some way...

You could network it using Linux or whatever flavor of Windows is already on it.
