3pin to 3pin adapter?

I just got a used Asus v6800 (GeForce 256 DDR), and was thinking about upgrading the heatsink/fan on it.

I noticed that the connector is not a standard 3-pin. It's this mini-3-pin job. Are there any adapters to use a regular 3-pin fan (like Blue-Orb) or should I just use a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter?

Also, since I'm adicted to these hardware monitoring things, if I use the adapter is it possible to wire just the rpm sensing wire to the card and still monitor the rpms? Or do all three wires need to be connected to get a proper reading?

Also, if you connect the 3-pin adaptor to any header on a motherboard with sensing capability(most, or all, of them have this), then monitoring your fan speeds is a snap;).

Mini 3 pin ?

I had a tennmax on the 4 pin adapter, i just splice the wires and put it into a 3 pin adapter.. u might have to splice wire and dont use tape to seal the connection, use the heat shrink, 1.99 at radio shack gets you like 20..

Yeah, I said mini-3-pin. It's smaller than the std mobo 3-pin fan connectors. Looks kinda like a WOL (Wake on LAN) connector size.

edit: Oh, and Busta, thanks for the link, but I already have a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter for the blue orb. Was looking to see if there were any adapters so I could use the fan connector on the Asus video card.
