This laptop may have a small screen and no CDROM/onboard floppy, but that's the point. I know someone who has one, and she keeps in in her purse all the time. Treat it like a palm pilot - you're best off using this as a mobile accessory to your desktop machine.

Hmmm.....

I thought I read it has a floppy??

Need to know how much the cd rom drive option and the additional ram prices would be...

Battery life sucks.... wonder if there is a car adapter???

Kind of like the size..... for portability! The price looks great too!

Does anyone know how many PCMCIA slots this thing has? Couldn't find it on their website, and checked IBM's too and they didn't say anything.

Hmm Tempting deal..

And do you guys notice that INSIGHT stated that the Battery last for around 1.7hrs. But....

According to the IBM spec link above, the 62U model comes with a 6-cell Lithium battery(High Capacity) that last for 4.2 hrs instead of the 3-cell Lithium Battery(Low Capacity) that goes with the Lower Model(52U).

Cause I really think that Battery life is important for notebook, and I think shelling out another $100-$200(Guessing) for a high capacity battery would make this deal less HOT.....

BTW, it seems that it uses a External Diskette drive.....hmmmm more things to carry around :(

Hey... what's going on here? The link says that the product can NOT be shipped to Canada. The same laptop on their Canadian site sells for *$3503.99*!! That works out to US$2335.99!! :|:Q

It's also strange that the same notebook with win98se instead of win2k is $2339.99... dammit... now I have to find a way to get this notebook shipped to Canada without paying over double! :(:p:disgust::frown:

We Canadians get shafted for electronics AGAIN! :(

Temujin, don't Canadians have to pay some sort of astronomically high VAT (sales) tax? Your government has to pay for that "free" health care somehow! :D

I ordered one. Paid for 2 day FexEx.
We'll see how long it takes them to ship it out.
Hope they get it out in time for my trip to Japan
on the 18th
:D

We have a Goods and Services Tax (7%). In the province that I live in, there is no provincial tax, so that comes out to 7% tax total. The extra must be because we only have 1/10th the population of the US. AND we don't have CompUSA where you Americans get 100 CDs for $9.99...

Ah well... there's a cost to free health care, clean air, and we also have 80% of the Earth's fresh water supply... choices, choices, choices... :D;):p

[EDIT]
Oops... I forgot that we also have the highest income taxes outside of the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland... 29% for Federal taxes plus rough 50% of the federal rate for provincial taxes... roughly 44% of our total income goes to income taxes.
[/EDIT]

I ordered mine last night when they still 54 left, but
my order status says that it is on back order.
Insight's customer service confirmed this to be the
case.

I wonder how many they really had on hand.
Anyone have an idea?

I ordered around 3pm EST yesterday, and got my order at 11AM today! It's a sweet laptop, light and tiny.. only problems that I see for now are that the screen's kinda small, and there aren't any windows keys.. but that's a minor hassle that I can stand considering how small this thing is and its price :)

I ordered around 9PM EST last night, and it looks
like there are about 50 orders ahead of mine in the
backorder queue. Looks like I won't be taking it to
Japan next week :disgust:
