3Ghz quad vs 3Ghz dual

I'll soon have my Quad up and running. Waiting for an order of 2x2Gb sticks. Both will be pretty much identical except of the video card. I don't know if the comparison will be fair. All should be except for the cards and the Q9300 will have to run a 400fsb to equal cpu frequencies.

If there are any review sights out there that already have this, stop me now 🙂 hehe

same clock? the quad will pull a little ahead thanks to the extra cache. :T

The quad shares the 6mb L2 cache with both sets of cores so 3mb for each of the core pairs where as the Dual uses all of the 6mb L2 cache. The quad does not have any extra cache.

OOPS... i got my cache mixed up.

Good call on the mistake.

The dual will do better then. :T

You could always manually set the multipliers to the same thing if you want a fair test.
