the newest intels always command a price so this is to be expected

also since the hyperthreading is enabled on these but once they are more readily available the price will drop just like the rest

as a thought,i wonder if the higher price reflects the added hyperthreading, the holidays approaching, and the sad fact that people will pay more for the latest and greatest?

the price on pricewatch shows that googlegear has them for 693.00 and harddrive.com has them for 707.00

also with amd not putting as much pressure on intel this holiday season? it may well be that these prices are to be the norm

thank goodness i settled on the 2.8;):p

These C1's look like the New AXIA Y's, tempting....even for an AMD zealot.

i wanna see some real world user benchies before getting excited about HT.
many are saying it wont do squat and most will turn it off.

True. Although Toms is out of favour with many on this board, I did pay attention when he analysed the HT vs Non HT P4's. The most worrying impact was, in my opinion, the hit on Memory bandwith in some cases. Many may find the gains are outweighed by the losses, but it seems this will be usage oriented.

However, it does seem that if the right application with the right optimizations comes along you could well see the fruits of Intels labours, if these matching apps are your bread and butter. Only time will tell.

Once I'm able to zero in on a decent DC DDR board, I'll resurrect my trusty 1.6A for this board (P4S-533).

If someone buys it and doesn't like it, I'll cross-ship a kidney for it ;) :D

The first thing I thought when I saw the price was "Damn, I could buy two 9700's with that money."

OMG just buy a freaking AMD DUALLIE Combo for that much!

$220 for the Mobo
$150 for the 512 ecc ram
2x Retail 2000+ MP's for $312

Save $18 and buy a 6 pack of Molson and a combo meal! :p
