Nothing on Apple's site claims that this memory controller supports dual channel, it does say I could put 2x2gb in there and only be able to use 3gb... or I can 1x1gb and 1x2gb and get 3gb as well.

Does anyone know of a site with tests showing whats what?

Even if it does, it doesn't really matter. You get better performance with 3gb of non-matched ram than 2gb of match ram, iirc. Is your white iMac a C2D? I believe only C2D iMacs support 3gb ram.

Do you *need* more RAM? That may be a silly question :p

Mac's can fly on 2gb. Should be plenty.

If you feel like a photoshop/movie editing champ, more is always better.

How much RAM do you have now? And like Spartan said, are you really hurting for more?
