3G tablet - can I just use my phone's sim card?

So I'd like a tablet and would honestly use it more away from wifi areas, but can't justify another monthly bill. Can I just pop in the sim card from my phone (windows phone 7, full data plan on the at&t network) and use it, or are the sims/data plans on tablets incompatible?

While they are aware of you swapping SIM cards between devices, I don't think they can do anything about it. Just keep in mind that your tablet won't be able to take phone calls or text messages.

Not for the focus. There's a convoluted method but I've read a few horror stories about bricked phones
