I'm switching from crappy ATT to another service and wanted to see how roaming worked between all of these carriers? So far, US Cellular is pretty significantly cheaper, though their 3G area is tiny and only centered around large cities. Do US handsets roaming 3g on Verizon's towers through their roaming agreement or are you limited to 1x?

The same question for Sprint, whcih I'm not a big fan of and know that their coverage in my local area isn't great. Do Sprint phone roaming 3g on Verizon?

I keep seeing things online about PRL lists that show 3g roaming or 1x? How does this work?

Thanks guys!

I have sprint, and live in L.A.

whenever I don't have reception (and that's FAR and very FEW) I just set my phone to roam onto Verizon, without any issues. Just make sure you turn on data roaming as well!

Can't wait for my 4G!

No, I've never seen my Sprint roam on 3G, always 1x.

Verizon's network is already getting shittier by the day as more people get Android phones, don't need more saturation.

My Sprint phone has better reception, and one reason I'm keeping it. Have 2 phone numbers now, one on my Droid and one on my HTC Snap.

Roaming between sprint and Verizon is 1x only.

except in ex-Alltel areas. Verizon has to abide to Alltel's old roaming agreements in areas they took over. Sprint and Alltel had a 10 year roaming agreement to allow 3g for 10 years signed 3 or 4 years ago. The same will hold true for former Alltel areas going to ATN or AT&T. The FCC mandated it as part of the conditions to approval of the merger.
