3G handset from T-mobile?

I'm going to Japan in a few days and I found out that my phone wont cut it there. I have the Samsung S105 from T-Mobile. What T-mobile said is that I need a 3G handset. Does T-mobile have such a phone? Or do I have to go with another provider/carrier?
 
Motorola v980, can be had very cheap of eBay, and its a very nice phone. Its only drawback is a lack of bluetooth, which is very odd consaidering the model number, and that every phone from Moto starting with the v500 has bluetooth... o well.
 
Ah ok, looks like I'm probably out of luck with T-mobile. What I'll do is take my phone, rent a W-CDMA phone there, then take my sim card and put it in that phone.
