3G and 4G Ipod docks

Hi all. I was thinking of getting a new 4G ipod and was wondering if the 3g ipod docks work with the 4g ipod docks. I have a 10gig 3g ipod and three 3g docks, one at work, one at home and one at another apt. This way, whereever i'm at I can dock. I dont feel like buying more docks if they dont work with the 4g ipods. At ~$40 a pop for a dock its a rip. Thanks.
 
NO! Don't do it. Explosion! iPod Minis will come out, shooting you in the eye and killing your ferret.



It will work fine. Fit won't be perfect since the 4G is slimmer than the 3G.

No it's freakin' wrong. The website being "it".

The difference in the docks is the size of the slot. And the iPod Photo dock also has video out.

For example this 3rd party dock will take all dock connector iPods except for the 30GB & 40GB 3G. Why? Because they're thicker than all the others. FYI the 3G 30Gb & 40GB are the same size.

So in short, my three 3g ipod docks (which, btw, worked with my boss' 3g 40gb which was thick) theoretically will work with 4g ipod but may not physically fit but if I shave some plastic off the docks it should work?

I have been reading all over about the new ipods and places where they sell docks for 4g always say "not for older ipods" or "only for the new click-models". I was also thinking that apple is just trying to get more $$$$ from people who upgrade from 3g to 4g by stating the above dock incompatibility.
