Bah stupid "this video is unavailable". I really need to reinstall my OS, jsut don't have the time...

But I think I know what this is they were showing it on Daily Planet today, it's definitely pretty cool. May not really have a purpose, but it still looks fun to play with. They'll probably ban it because kids will try to eat the plastic though. Kinda like how they banned kinder surprises and bucky balls lol.

"So you want to build a 3d printer, but you don't want to bother with any CNC systems, motors, or electronics. You're in luck!"

Though it does look like it has a bit more control than a hot glue gun. :)

Wow. Someone's getting a free million dollars. And they didn't even have to wait for some old dude with a big check to knock on their front door after they paid to enter a contest twenty times.

Kickstarter is like the lottery for smart people, it seems. Gotta get in on that.

In this stage it might seem worthless, but this could be a cool tool for teachers. It would be neat to see 3D notes in classes like chemistry and physics.

No, "finance-ignorant hipster 2.0 reddit people" are the ones backing projects, not the ones coming up with anything.

That's what i meant: the premise of lottery is you are not getting compensated for risking your money... that's why states running lotteries are the ones that win every time.

"Backing" a kickstarter project is akin to buying a lottery ticket - there's a small probability you might get the thing you think you're paying for, but you're out that money in expectation

Oh, right. Well yeah, the maximum possible reward for backing a Kickstarter project is the value of the product, no huge paydays. The only huge lottery-like payday is for the people coming up with the ideas, who may or may not deliver.

you mean like the ball and stick models that every chemistry instructor on the planet uses?
