3DMark2001 Score - How to tweak my System?

I build a computer a month ago but I feel like it isn't tweaked as well as it should be. I just ran 3DMark 2001 and got a score of 5910. That isn't very good is it? Also how can I be sure my FSB is 333mhz? It shows up as 166 everywhere. Is that because it is really 333mhz with DDR? Any ideas on what to tweak or what guides to read? Thanks a lot.

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 2700+
Asus A7n8x Deluxe
1gig DDR SDRAM
Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB

That score seems low. I score around 9200 to 9500 depending on whether i have my video card overclocked or not. My specs are an xp 1600 on a soyo dragon plus mb with 256 of pc2100 and a ge force 4 ti 4400.

Are those numbers run with the benchmark's default settings??

Sorry I forgot to mention that my xp has a slight overclock.
It is running at 1.49 ghz instead of the stock 1.4 ghz

I believe so. I just installed it and clicked run.

Here is what the result said:
Program Version 3DMark2001 SE 3DMark2001 SE

Resolution 1024x768 32bit 1024x768 32bit

Texture Format Compressed

FSAA Disabled

Z-Buffer Depth 24bit

Frame Buffer Double

Rendering Pipeline D3D Pure Hardware T&L

I believe they are the defult settings.

Something is not right with you machine I have a friend that has a 1 gig duron and a geforce 3 ti 200 with 256 of pc 2100 on the kt 266a platform and i believe that he gets 6000.

What version of Catalyst you running? Is your board running at 4x AGP? You can set that in the BIOS probably. You are running your hard drives in DMA mode? UDMA 4 - 5? You updated your motherboard drivers?

Before I switched to a Ti4600, I had a 2400+ with the A7N8X and a 9500 pro. The 2400+ was running at 2700+ speeds and the 9500 pro was stock. I got 12,600 on 3DMark2001. So your machine should do that too.
If it says 166MHz then it is 333DDR.
Has the hard drive been reformatted and operating system clean installed with all current hardware?
Do you have all the latest drivers? Chipset from Asus, Catalyst from ATI?
Right click on desktop, choose properties, settings, advanced, then your video card. Make sure Antialiasing and Ansiotropic filtering are off. Make sure you are using the correct refresh rate for your monitor.
Go to http://www.tweaktown.com and do the Reformat to Relax Windows XP tweak guide (I assume you use XP with that new system).
Got to http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum/postlist.pl?Cat=&Board=mo3dmark2001 and check out Gamers HQ 3DMark Tweaks thread. That forum is another great place to get help with your 3DMark score.

That is extremely low, reinstall winXP, reinstall latest cat 3.1 drivers, nforce 2 drivers, etc. Then run it.

Turns out I had AA and Anisotropic filtering turned on in the Radeon display porperties. Once I turned them off I got 12539. A little better I'd say. Thanks.
