I just got a new 7900Gt from XFX which im going to sell. But in testing it, Ive found it wont make it through 3dmark06 without artifacting in test 4, and it made it through and scheduled a 4500ish score, but then it kept shutting my monitor on and off. Yet it makes it through 3dmark05 no problem, and played warcraft 3 nicely. Im guessing I should definetly RMA it and avoid possible issues with the ebay buyer?

So you bought the card, tested it, and now wanting to sell on ebay ? If thats the case, I would RMA the card first in order to keep ebay in good standing. Someone wanting a 7900GT will not be happy at all getting one that artifacts. I would say if you sell it the way it is, its a lose lose situation imo .

RMAed a 6800Gt, they upgraded me to this for $50. I tested it with 05 yesterday and some games and figured it was good to list. Tried 06 today and got all these issues, redid the drivers about 5x and still nothing. So I just ended the auction and I guess im gonna rma it. Sucks because it took them over a month to get me another card, im not lookin forward to dealin with that again but I shall.

Is that the Deep Freeze test? If so then that's the first sign of 7900GT Sudden Death Syndrome.

HAHAHA yes it is. I just tried 3dmark03 and got a reboot outta nowhere, and a serious error when i got back into windows. Windows referred me to their site saying I had a Stop Error. Was leary of the 7900GT cuz of all the problems... The sad thing is I dont even want it, I just want to sell it and be done with it.

The only thing that bothers me and makes me think that it could be a driver issues even though ive cleaned them and redid them about 5x is that I can run anything else and cant get it to artifact or have a problem. Even RTHDRIBL doesnt do anything to it.

I would just RMA it, you should get back a working one you can keep or sell or whatever. :) Definitely sounds to me like you got one of the bad bunch of 7900GTs if it's going mental on deep freeze. :(

pretty sad if XFX sent out a RMA replacement thats bad, you would think since they are not in retail packaging or anything that they would check it first...

I just took it out and looked over it. Looked like a piece of one of the gold "teeth" that plug into the pcix slot is missing, not the whole thing but about half of one. maybe thats the cause. either way its goin back and im praying i get a good one.

Yea didnt bother to look on my x1900xt and see if it was like that, thats a relief thought i may have done it. Just very unhappy with XFX RMA service and could see them giving me trouble over this. Every other RMA ive dealt with had me a new item within 2 weeks, took them 5 and they gave me the run around the entire time. Had to shoot them a message every few days to keepem motivated.
