For some reason whenever i download 3DMark05 it keeps asking me what program i want to use to open it. It won't just open up, does anyone know what to do?

Are you sure you downloaded the correct version? Is their a linux version or something? If you are sure that it has a .exe extention, The file may have gotten corrupted during download. Did you use a download manager or something to break up the download?

I downloaded it from download.com...........its on the desktop but looks like a white box with little icons in it. and when i go to open it, it tells me to choose a program to open it.

Look in explorer (I assume you have windows) to see the file extension on it. It sounds like your computer doesn;t rcognize the file, meaning it is definately not an executable or anything.

wow, nm, i just went in and added .exe to the file name by right clicking and selecting rename. And it worked.

I was wondering, with the system i have what is a good score?

uh prob around (and I'm guessing) 4400-4600 give or take depending upon cpu oc and mem timings and gfx card oc

You have the patch right? Build 1.1.0? What are your gfx card clocks at and what drivers are you using? Also make sure V-Sync is OFF.

Go to the 3DMark web site. You should be able to compare your scores to the scores of others and their configurations. That will give you a good idea if your scores are really off.

You have 6 month old drivers no biggie though. Go to Nvidia's website and dnld and install 66.93 driver. Again make sure Vertical-Sync is OFF in your performance settings for your card. This being on can greatly reduce the FPS therefore giving you a lower score. :)
