Yes. However, Vsync is not affecting your game play, so i still use it. e.g. in HL2 i may get 80 to 100 fps for a certain area, but with vsync its limited to 75 fps (to match the 75Mhz LCD), so the fps dont fluctuate so much, and the picture will be smoother.
Also, ATI's Catalyst A.I., Geometry Instancing, and Triple Buffering will improve performance. I also use ATI Tray Tool (free for download) for more tweaking options. This program has more in depth settings and full overclocking and fan control support, even video memory timinngs, though I don't recommend touching those!
Good luck, dude, I fried my card while running 3Dmark05, (the fan was reset ran at 5%). I'm eagerly anticipating the R520, but for now I'm thanking God for VPU recovery, and wishing I hadn't run it at 600/600 Mhz!!! Ensure you always have tabs on your core and ambient temps, its very easy to slip when you cross the line while tweaking.
