3dmark05 score

I'm guessing you can blame your P4 for the low score. I used to have a x800 on my A64, and it scored ~4200 stock, ~4900 OC'd. Also, if it's the 128mb version, that can be another reason for the low score, although I dont think it would make that much difference.

That score sounds about right for a Vanilla X800

Ditto, not a cpu issue, always blamming intel:roll:!

Then what is the issue? I had the exact same card, and it got 4114 at stock settings, and mind you that was on default driver settings - I didnt do any BS like set everything to high performance/low quality.
default score
oc'd score

Actually, that reminds me - go to the display control panel 3D settings and click the "default" button to reset all the settings. I remember I was getting a low score befere resetting it to default, even though I didnt change any settings before then.

I dont know that there is a issue, I do know that his intel 3.4 oced to 4.0 is not causing a bottle neck.

It's probably not the CPU. The 6600gt is somewhat in the performance area of the x800, and on my P4 2.8ghz, it's no different than what most people are getting on faster CPUs.

You won't get close to 4800 unless you have 16 pipes... A vanilla X800 has 12 pipes I assume??

If you push that core up to about 500, you'll probably come close... then again.. it might not

Wow that OC'd score is pretty low...I have a 3500+ @ 2.2ghz (stock) and a 6800GT @ 400/1000, and I get a good 5200ish.

An x800 only has 12 pipes, and the 6800gt has 16. Since there's no pipes to unlock, it will never be as fast as a oc'd 6800gt. Also, the x800 is derived from the XL core, not the XT core, so they dont have much oc headroom either. 450mhz is already higher than the average oc limit on those cards.

that is pretty true, my max o/c for the core is only 425

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Intel CPUs do not degrade scores that much!

Especially in this case with a P4 at 4.0ghz, and an X800 PCIe. Such a card would not be bottlenecked at all by such a fast CPU, especially in 3D mark.

Look at this benchmark:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/21/...her_of_all_cpu_charts_2005/page30.html

And that was done on a 6800GT, which is far faster than the X800 vanilla and far more likely to be bottlenecked by the CPU. And you say that the Intel CPU is the bottleneck? If he got a similar processor (A64 3400+) he'd probably score lower since 3DMark05 seems to favour Intel CPUs.
