All:

I got my system setup last night and ran 3dmark05 with the two 7800GT SLI Card setup. I am not disappointed with the score, but am wondering if it is correct for the kind of setup that I have..

When the test was done, I got a score of 9549.

My machine specs are:

Athlon 3500+
1gig Ram
Antec TruControl 2 550W (19A on dual 12V rails)

Any thoughts?

That's a good score for your system. I can barely break the 4000 mark on my system. Now OC the cards and the CPU a little and break the 10000 mark :D

He's running a pair of GT, not GTX. And we don't know which GT cards he is using, either. Close to 10K is about right for 7800GT SLI. You aren't going to hit 12K+ without GTXs.

7800 GT SLI can break 12k+ with powerful CPU. His problem is that his CPU isn't powerful enough.

My system is 7800 GT SLI with AMD 64 x2 3800+. With stock frequence of 3800+, I got around 9800 with 78.01 driver.
I overclocked 3800+ @ 2560 MHZ and i got 10600+ in 3d mark05.

With latest beta driver, 80.84, I got 12276 in 3d mark05. I can hit 12500+ with overclocked 7800 GT.

Not that easy to break 11k.

A lot of reviews of 7800 GTX SLI and 7800 GT SLI showed that 7800 GTX SLI is around 10600 and 7800 GT SLI is around 10000.

For examples, they were using amd 3500+ as their test platform.

You can find a lot more reviews with similar results.

Nowadays, if you have dual core CPU with latest beta drivers from nvidia, you can get a boost around 1000-1500 or even more in 3d mark05.

proof for what?

You cannot expect to get the same score from a amd fx-57 and amd 3500+ even the video cards are the same.

SLI cards are only at 450MHz.

Yea the EVGA KOs I think are clocked at 490....I'll have to see when I get home but I'm pretty sure.

Yep, it aint easy... seems the more powerful the system, the less reponse 05 gives.

That said, I hit 10K myself using an overclocked 3500+ and two overclocked 6800GT's in SLI.

I have to imagine hitting 10K with two 7800GT's should be easy after reaching that with dual 6800GT's.

Here's my link:

Basically... learn to tweak and then tweak the hell out of it.

11K should be do able.

Looks like if your enjoy playing 3d Mark 05, then ATI XT overclocked is the way to go.

Remember though that lower resolutions and stuff create overhead for SLIs. Ill run 05 with higher res and aa and see the scores.
