Hi, I've been browsing these forums for about a week now and have finally found an excuse to post.:) I've been having a problem with overclocking my 6800 GT after installing new Mobo and processor, before the upgrade I had no problems using Coolbits2. I upgraded from an ASUS A7n8x w/ AMD 2600+ to MSI Neo Platinum w/ AMD 64 3200+. After the upgrade Coolbits lost it's overclocking tab along with a few others and thus losing my previous overclock which I easily had at Ultra speeds. I reinstalled Coolbits2 and tried to OC again and got much worse results. Whenenver I took it over 397/1090 3dMark would periodically freeze up during the tests then start back up with a huge drop in FPS.

I then found a comfortable speed for 3dMark to run with something close to the above mentioned speeds, resulting with a 11700 which I think is pretty poor for my setup. I'd be more accurate but I am at work right now. Even with those speeds games will lock up for a few seconds every once and a while but without a loss in FPS. Any idea why I'm getting such bad results?

My setup for reference:
MSI Neo Platunim
AMD 64 3200+
1 Gig Corsair XMS 3200
6800 GT
Western Digital 80 Gig 7200
350W PSU

Oh, and I do not have the video card running with a direct line from the PSU due to lack of extensions, it's shared with a CDRW.

My best guess would be that you are on the edge of your power supply's abilities.

I'd second that statement. Bump up to a more powerful PSU, if it still does the same thing, you got unlucky and got a core that won't OC well. :p

Ok, I figured that as one of the possibilities. Now I finally have an excuse to buy a new one.:) I'll probably step up to a 480W. Thanks for your help!

What do you expect for a 3dmark 03 score? My system's very similar to yours ('cept I have corsair 'value' ram) and I got about 10,800 with everything at stock speeds...oc'd the video a little and got 11,300

leadtek 6800gt was clocked to 400/1100mhz

but for some reason after a bios flash on my asus k8ne 3d mark dont like those clock frequencies....everything else runs fine at those speeds....to me 3d mock isnt a great loss
