i downloaded 3dmark to test my video card out but i can only get it to run test 1 right. when it goes to run test 2-4 i only get like 3-5 fps. i have a geforce fx 5200 128meg. anyone know the reason it's running like this??

The fx5200 is simply a very weak card when compared to others. The first test is most likely dx7, which wouldn't be nearly as intensive as subsequent tests, which could be dx8 and 9.

You're probably reffering to 3dmark03 from what I understood.
3dmark03 is a very pushing benchie even for the high end cards at some tests.
It's a dx9 engine(HAVOK), and Nvidia seemed to have a little trouble with dx9 performance(not trying to start a flame war here...).3dmark03 and Nvidia was a subject of many flame wars.
Even more your gpu is the worst of the fx series, so combine the facts and you can understand why you are not able to get a respectable performance.

First of all...80fps on the first test isn't that high. The FX5200 is mainly a dx 8.1 card with dx9 capabilities but not enough hardware to run it at any respecatable rate. I believe that you would need a Radeon 9600 to obtain respectable rates on 3dMark03.
