What's the deal here? When other equivalently configured boxes are pushing over 8000, why is mine so low? I did notice that 3DMark 2k1 said my ram was running at 8mhz... not sure wtf is going on.

Any ideas?

note: Yah, I could put this in the general hardware forum, but I'd never get a response.

Are you sure the other boxes are running 2000 or 2001? They redid the scoring so everyone's score is less in 2001 than 2000.

That's about right. 4000 would be an excellent score in 2K1. In 2K 8000+ the high end.

I guess I could check out the scored in 2k as well. It just seemed strange, as much of the benchmark seemed choppy.

No way are other machines like your getting 8000 on 3DMark2001. 3DMark 2000 had 1Ghz and up machines with Ultras scoring 8000 and up. On 2K1 they are scoring around 3000-5000.

It doesn't take a 1 gig/Ultra to get 8000+ in 2K, I topped 8000 with a P3 966 & a GTS.

My GF2 Pro should arrive today, I'm anxious to see what a 1400 MHz Thunderbird & a GF2 running at 220/4xx will do.

They didn't make a P3 966 chief ;) Unless you're o/c'd at that speed.

My machine is a P3 866 with a GTS (32mb) and in 2k I got 7250 max score. 8000+ would be nearly impossible, as I had my card o/c'd to over 400 on the memory end of things but I remember other GTS users scoring 7700 or so I just can't see 8000+ possible in 2k.

As far as 2k1 I think my scores range around 1600-1800 or so, can't remember for sure though.

i score a even 3000, but i have a geforce2gts im pretty sure that the boittle neck. o/c the vid card doesnt jelp much so i just left it at defaults. 1557 is terrible you should through your computer away and be ashamed that you ever even had one, lol seriously you should get sisof2t sandra and benchmark your system the tuneup wizard is actually kind of helpfull when diagnosing problems, it helped me figure ouyt that my bus master drivers were slowing down my hard drive. i changed the version violia its fixed

Duh.

It was a P3 700e running on a 138 FSB on a BX board.

Oh, and my GTS was running above Pro speeds (220/400) as well.

I'm willing to bet you're running benchmarks with Anti-Aliasing turned on. Turn it off!!

Actually, AA was off. I tried first at 1152x864x32 and got the 1557. I tried again at 1024x768x32 and got ~1580. Bah.

I tried 800x600x32, 800x600x16, 640x480x32, and still, I barely get 40fps.

Any ideas as to what the bottleneck could be? SiSoft Sandra didn't lead me to any potential bottlenecks...

Mebbe it's your pIII 500 holding you back? I get 2100 with my pIII 774 and GeForce2 MX, 1024x768@32bit.
