I just added the new component to my system and I thought I was going to get a better score than 16004(I installed the latest drivers)? My ATI 9500PRO scored a 13610.

My system:
Shuttle nforce2 AN35N Ultra
XP-M 2400+(@2436MHz)
1024MB Ram (CAS 2.5)
Chaintech 6600GT AGP
80GB WD HD
TTGI 350W PSU

Does this seem like a low score? Please advise. Thanks!

That doesn't seem all that low AFAIK...3dmark01 is quite CPU limited at this point. (I haven't run it since I got my 6800GT last summer though, so I'm not sure what a normal score might be for "current" video cards...)

Sounds a tad low. I was getting nearly 19,000 with my AXP at 2.48 GHz and 9800 Pro slightly above stock speeds. My RAM was CAS 2 and running at 217 MHz too though.

It seems that we are running at the same CPU speed. My Ram is at 187MHz. I don't understand how you can get a score of 19000 on a 32bit processor. Is it because you card supports 256bit technology?

The best OC "software" is called a good motherboard BIOS. Good ones will allow great ranges of adjustment.

That score does seem low for a near 2.5GHz CPU. With my Athlon XP 2600+ mobile at 2.7GHz I get 22,700 in 3DMark2001SE.:)

yeh it does sound low... did you totally remove all drivers from the 9500 before installing 6600GT>?

That score is normal for your system. 3Dmark01 is extremely cpu and memory bandwidth dependent.

Do us a favor, download 3Dmark2005 and run that instead.

I'll bet that score will be exactly what a normal 6600GT should get.

Yes. I even used DriverCleaner3. Any other suggestions?

Your previous scores were fine. On a similar system to yours (AXP at 2.45GHz, fsb 198, Corsairs 2x512mb, timings 2-3-2-6) my 9500Pro gave me just over 14000 in 3DMark01, but my 9800Pro (@420/375) gave me just under 19000. Perhaps 6600GTs simply score lower on 3DMark01, despite being slightly faster in most games?

Why are you worried about an old benchmark anyway? Run 03 and 05, and that will give you a much better picture of how your system is performing.

I have been comparing a 6600GT to a 9800 PRO, and for whatever reason, the 9800 Pro scores a few points higher in 3Dmark2001.. ( I have seen this reported elsewhere. )

However, with 3DMark03 - 05, the 6600GT scores significantly higher, about 25% in 03..

Yeah, definitelu get 3dmark05, and aquamark too for good measure. 3dmark01 is not even dx9, no reason to bench modern cards with it, and like everyone said, it's probably cpu limited at this point.

3DMARK2003 keeps giving me error messages. I will get you a report on 3DMARK2005 when I have it downloaded.
