When running the CPU test in 3DMark 2000, it drops me back to the desktop. I have ran the CPU stability test overnight and got a 6/6 Rock stable rating. Also the temperature never go over 44C and never crashed on me doing my usual net surfing stuff. Upping the voltage will not work, underclocking RAM will not work, and also have tried to lower the AGP to 1x did not work... Can anyone help please? thanks!

P3 700 cB0 @ 933mHz @ 1.7V
128MB Mosel Vitalic RAM from Memman 7ns
32MB Elsa Gladiac(Not OC'ed)
7200RPM Harddrive
Diamond MX300

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you

3DMark (in my experience) tends not to work on all overclocked systems. I have a P3 450, if I run at 450 3DMark runs right through. If I go to 558, 3DMark crashes to the desktop. Some would say, 558 isn't stable then. But 558 is stable. I've been running it for over a year, play tons of games on it and don't get any more crashes than I would when I ran at 450. I can't remember the last time i saw a BSOD.

Thanks sparky for the info. I only have half life or quake 2 to loop to test for stability in games. Does anyone know how to loop them? thank you

Sparky, I would be in the "some people" group who might wonder if your system is 1000000000% stable. If it's running fine at stock speed and not at higher speed with NO other changes then it's possible it isn't as stable as you might think. I run stuff and it will be "stable" until I do some serious torture tests to the system. Windows and (at least light to moderate) gaming might ..(oops) NOT... be enough. In fact, with one of my CPUs (Celeron 366@457 stock voltage) I could game heavily with no problems, but benchmarking video programs would just kick me back to the desktop. But you don't get BSODs, and in truth, I DID eventually get one BSOD, but only one in several weeks. (Works fine with a slight voltage tweak.)

On the other hand, if it's stable enough for you, who cares? And you're right, 3DMark2000 itself is a bit finicky sometimes...

Sparty,

There is a new version (1.1?) of 3DMark2000 which is supposed to correct some of the bugs. My older version works fine however. Did you test 3DMark2000 with your CPU at stock speed?

Of course I tried it at stock speed. No problems, but that's not enough :) I bought a 700E cB0 for overclocking purposes ;) I even got a PEP66U for cooling

I am using the newest version of 3DMark (just dl'ed two days ago in fact) and I have NO stability issues with my P3-500E@715mhz (143mhz FSB).

:)

Smackdown, did you bump the voltage? Also what video card are you using? I don't get why my non-overclock'ed GTS at 66mHz AGP will cause any trouble.

Yeah, I used v1.1.

I consider this thing running at 558 for over a year with no problems to be stable. The only thing it ever drops out of is 3dmark.
