Awesome! As long as the drivers are fine, this should be more than a worthy adversary to Nvidia and ATI.

Dang. Some impressive stuff, thats for sure. I doubt it'll perform at first significiantly better than GF4 and R8500, but it ought to be at least on par (although costing a lot of course), maybe being a tad faster, and that could make it to be a pretty big competitior for the Quadro4 and ATi's FireGL 8800. For you Matrox seekers, this was not likely "the thing" because at the end Anand says "As unexpected as 3DLabs' announcement was (we weren't anticipating it for another few weeks) it's just the first in a line of new technologies in the graphics sector. " That seems to be telling me that somethings coming, it could be NV30/R300, but I find them a little too far off.

Although 3DLabs does have an office on the west coast, I was briefed on this over the phone and not in San Francisco ;)

. Ya'know, the video card market never takes any HUGE leaps, it just kind of gradually eeks it's way by, dishing out new but crippled features. Sure programmability was a decent jump, but it hasn't been put to use, at ALL, because it wasn?t done right. I just don?t see the point in releasing products that are only marginally better than their contenders. The computer industry is starting to milk people for every cent they have. This new video card means JACK, nVidia will just throw something out that trounces it in every way possible.
