3dfx vid card doesn't support dual monitors

i have an AGP ATI AIW 7500 and a 3Dfx PCI Banshee. with a voodoo 3 inplace of this 3dfx, i can hit "extend desktop to this monitor", but with the 3dfx, i can't.

anyone know why?
