What do the 3dfx fanatics thing now that the VooDoo 6 has been cancelled?

This product cancelation is the begining of the end of 3dfx. The big idea of becoming a retail seller failed so they are going back to being a chip supplier to other companies. These are the same companies who flocked to Nvidia when 3dfx stopped selling chips. How many will go back I wonder?

Before the flames start about being a nvidia fanatic I am still using a TNT and have an ATI Radion 32SDR on order.

Not the beginning of the end. 3dfx has some of the best looking technology on the horizon. They made a mistake when they bought STB. 3dfx should have stayed a chip company. They are going back to that and as a result will have less overhead. If they do not get their next product out then they may have problems. 3dfx is in no way out of the ball game though. They have the best overall product out right now (imo). No it wont be the best tommorrow but for today it is the best product. It has better compatibility and better image quality than most all other cards out there, and at playable speed. Yes the price is high. And yes Radeon and GeForce 2 cards are faster. Although not alot faster with the new drivers. But dont discount them because they are not number one in sales at the moment. Which as I understand it they are nubmer one in the retail market.

As a UK resident I find the USA presidential election situation quite strange.

Can anybody explain why Al Gore thinks that he would get more votes if there is a recount in some parts of Florida. Does this mean the average Democrate in Florida is dumber than the average Republican?

From my perspective the difference between either party to to small to see!

Flames welcome, I enjoy a good laugh.

to make a long story short, there are between 15 and 20 thousand votes that were "thrown out" in florida. The vast majority of them happened in areas where Gore was a "favorite".

George Bush's brother is governor of the state, and florida's secretary of state (Sos)is a staunch republican Bush supporter, and there were cries of "foul" going up on election day before the ballots even closed and the vote count occurred.

Gore has the attitude of "hey, let's count all the votes" and Bush has the attitude "I don't want to, I won, give up"

Bush is governor of Texas, and many of the things that Gore is trying to do (i.e. "count all votes") Bush is trying to legally block.

Interestingly enough, Bush signed into law (he is governor of Texas) a few bills which actually cover this sort of thing. IF Florida were to go by TExas rules (that George Bush himself signed into law), Bush would be in "deep doo-doo"

:)

It's all BS if you ask me.

Wrong. Gore is trying to recount ballots that were thrown out. Ballots that in the same county, in the previous election had 16000 thrown out. Yes its a primarily democratic area. If you look at the numbers it does not speak very highly for the average democrats intelligence level. Not to mention EVERY PLACE IN THE COUNTRY HAD VOTES THROWN OUT!!! New Mexico had 27000 thrown out in one district. The thing is AL Gore got his recount. He got his second hand recount. Now he wants to keep on recounting till he wins. Of course Bush does not want them hand recounted as that does introduce politics to the game. I for one would rather lose and have a machine count than win and have the doubt that someone tampered with the election. The election was designed to be held on one day and finished one one day. I do not like Bill Clinton. Hes lied at least 30 times under oath and there are records. But I would rather keep Clinton in office than keep going through all of this judicil interfereing in the legeslative process. Gore lost. Good bad or for whatever reason. The fact is he lost under OUR LAWS!!! Maybe the laws are wrong. Maybe they need to be changed. But that is the way the law is now. And until its changed it needs to be respected.

They amuse themselves with HSR drivers and wait for 3dfx to polish the drivers. That V5500 may end up spanking the Geforce2 Ultra at 1600x1200 yet - something that was the V6000's job.

slatt01: You are misinformed. 3dfx isn't going to become a chip maker only, they are outsourcing the production of their products. So, there will still only be 3dfx branded cards. These are not the same companies that flocked to nvidia. They are asian companies that can put the boards together for them, cheaper then they can do it themselves. The 6000 was cancelled because Rampage is comming out very soon. Also, why would you waste your money on a radeon sdr when for about the same price you can get a 64meg voodoo5 5500?
