Anybody out there had any DVD experience with this card? I've read/heard that it anywhere from 'sux out loud' to 'it's almost as good as ATI,' presuming you're using WinDVD 2000 or SoftDVD (quite a freakin' range!!!)
Thanks!!!

well on all Voodoo cards, you get almost no DVD acceleration. they do some little things, but it pretty much doesn't do anything.

however if you're running on anything faster then a K6-2 400 with 64 megs RAM, and a good Soundcard, you don't need to worry buot hardware acceleration (this is a real life fact, I've tested it on my Voodoo 3). you could probably get DVD running good on the same system setup as above (I use a Vortex 2 soundcard BTW) but with a different videocard (one which actually helps DVD playback).

The Voodoo5 basically doesn't accelerate it. You need a software DVD player, and if you have a Voodoo5, you probably have a CPU that can easily handle software decoding. I use PowerDVD, it came with my DVD drive, and I have no idea which one 3dfx sends you if you mail in that card that comes with the V5. It works fine(Tbird 800)
