3dfx to leave the video card business!?! Going back to chips...

Holy smokes...you guys read about this? 3dfx is going to can their mexico factory, toss their STB investment, and go back to making chips! Thank god...now maybe we can get some top notch products from them and keep the video card competition alive (and the prices down). I guess they just weren't set up to make cards.

3dfx is going to have a tough time to get back into the oem market.
I am sure a lot of card manufacturers are still angry at 3dfx when they
left them all in the cold and decided to sell their own cards.

They gave all their oem market share to Nvidia and now they have to fight
to get back what they lost in two years. It is going to be one tough road
for 3dfx! Hopefully we will see more competitive products from them in
the future and restore some competition in the videocard market.

you know, the strangest thing is that despite having the weakest price/ performance cards, 3dfx have the greatest high street presence. Is that what pretty pictures on a box does?
