If you head over and check out the news on June 5th http://www.3drealms.com they say there not dead just the development team. So now they decided to launch a download service for all there old games: http://www.buy3drealms.com/ Also some freeware here: http://www.3drealms.com/downloads.html

Kinda pricey for how old they are. I guess they are trying to gain some money back from what they spent on making Duke Nukem Forever.....Remember that? Never came out. So why should we support a company who failed to deliver on so many promises through out the years?

Fuck them, we supported that shitty studio by buying Duke3D, Prey and Max Paine. I defended them against the constant barrage of vapourware comments on forums because I believed what Broussard and crew were saying on their own forums. They strung us along and failed to deliver. Fuck 3DR.

They've had that online store for a very, very long time. Since 2004, at least.

...an update I have posted to the 3D Realms online store.... 3D Realms ceased shipping physical product right around the time we posted the Goodbye story. We went to downloads only,
All they did was go to downloads only.

Also, THEIR, not there. You did it twice.

I never understood the attitutde around hating a company because of the length of time it took for them to release a Product. If they took your Money and ran, that I could understand, but they haven't.

Well some people really wanted another game. We got so hyped up when 3D Realms would tease us with a magazine article or throw a teaser trailer out. Then nothing dead silence about it. I mean we would go on with our lives not thinking about the game, thinking it was dead, playing other games. Then all of a sudden out of the blue more hype! We get excited again, then nothing....

So yeah some of us are pissed. We have a right too. We were let down hard.

Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Duke Nukem 3D, and Wolfenstein were some of my favorite games back when they came out. Only one I would consider paying for again is Raptor, though. FPSs that old aren't as fun to play for me, anymore, with the exception maybe of Doom 1/2 every once in a while.

It's a fucking game. Jesus Christ. It's not like you paid them money to develop it.

??
So the only reason why you bought games from them was to support them? Don't worry though, if you actually played those games you might get a feeling resembling enjoyment and satisfaction. It may be a bit foreign to you though.

Yes it is a fucking game. Look I really don't care if it comes out or not, I got other games to play. However all of a sudden they said it was coming, we even got game footage then it gets shit canned.

So I can't be upset at 3D Realms whose last game was Shadow Warrior back in 97, because they were working on Duke Nukem Forever all that time?

I think I can. It's not like i'm upset at them 24/7. Just would rather not pay them to get there old games..... The fact is they hyped up a game and then shit on the people who were hyped. We got played. It was all a cruel joke.

I mean yeah it's just a damn game, but man when you get excited about something and then let down..... It's happened to me with some movies. Don't ya get bummed when a movie is coming out that you really wanna see and then is total shit?

So don't rag on me for being upset.

Max Payne was awesome, as was Max Payne 2. Duke 3D was phenomenal as well for the time.

Prey was made by Human Head Studios, and I think it was pretty damned good too.

They got sued for using the term Raptor.

They've released like 4 games since they started DNF. They are not making any money because all their games suck and nobody cares.

They have milked the DNF hype for like 13 years or so. Got to be some kind of record. LOL

I would totally go buy a few games on their site if I thought it would mean DNF would get made.

Here is a quick run down on all games they put out through out the times.

As Apogee Software they have developed 25 games from 1986-1996. They published 23 games from 1988 to 1996.

As Pinball Wizards they published in 1997 Balls Of Steel.

As 3D Realms they have developed 2 games. Duke Nukem 3D in 1996 and Shadow Warrior in 1997. They published 16 games from 1995 to 2008. 12 of the published games is Duke Nukem related. 4 of them ports of Duke Nukem 3D.

As seen here. You can also take a look at there canned projects: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_Realms#Games
