Hi,

Hopefully somebody can help me out here.

I have an Optoma TX551 3D ready projector and an Optoma 3D-XL being fed by a PS3 and an Xbox360. The projector has started to either shut down, or strobe from bright to dim as soon as I send a 3D signal from either PS3 or Xbox. It happens with Blu ray 3D and 3D games from either console.

It has worked fine in the past. I have no signal issues with regular HD signals up to 1080p.

I have tried a different HDMI cable, and bypassing my receiver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I believe a 3d ready projector needs something else to get 3d. There was a thread a few months ago about the same issue I think. I could be totally wrong though lol.

It needs the 3DXL converter, which I have. It was working brilliantly too. Them out of nowhere one day, I put on a 3d movie and my projector shut down. I turned it back on and it stayed on and still put out the 3D picture, my glasses would sync and it was in 3D, but it was slowly strobing from light to dark.

The 3DXL automatically scales the 3D signal to 720P as well. I just bought all this equipment in the summer too. I think I'm going to have to end up calling Optoma tech support and possibly have to send it in for warranty repair. :(

I was hoping that maybe there was a common problem with an easy fix...

Thanks for the replies guys.

I wonder if this could be an HDCP handshake problem? Is it possible for it to be an problem if it hasn't been before with the same equipment?

Quick update: with further trouble shooting, I found that the projector isn't actually shutting down completely. The screen goes black and i can't change inputs or anything, but it is actually still on.
