3D Power GF2MX 400 Hates all drivers in 2K!?!

I have a 3D Power GeForce 2MX 400 card, and when I install drivers (so far 28.80 and 27.42) it just comes up with the screen completely black, and it has now corrupted my whole windows install to where I have to reformat the drive. I know this particular card is a total piece of crap (3D Power used to be 3dfx), because I had all sorts of fatal crash problems in XP with the 23.xx series drivers, until I tried 27.42 (worked in XP), but I need it to work. Please can someone offer advice? What drivers should I use? What am I doing wrong?
