Hasn't this been available for a while now?

It looked like an interesting concept, but the LCD itself had fairly low end specs from what I remember, especially for the price.

"Most PC games released in the last five years, including many of the most popular multiplayer online, first person shooter, and role-playing games, have already been designed for 3D displays. iZ3D's optimized driver unlocks the third (depth) dimension of these 3D-ready games to allow gamers to finally play them as they were written -- in 3D. "

Huh? How come I've never once heard about a game specifically written for this? Why isn't it advertised anywhere on any game?

I remember OpenGL games being made for 3d displays. I didn't think it was common other than that.

Maybe it has drivers that translate the depth levels in D3D into actual 3D?

*checked* The IZ3D site has drivers that are required for shutter output, etc.

I researched this pretty heavily about 6 months ago or so. I remember newer games not working at all due to the heavily used deferred shading or something like that. I probably have that all wrong and backwards, but I do remember newer games not being compatable with this display. Or maybe it was anti-aliasing that didn't work when in 3D mode. I believe that is what it was... To me, AA is a requirement for gaming. 3D would be cool and all, but seeing Jaggies in 3D aint cool.

However, at a price point of $399 I am very tempted to get it work.

UPDATE - It looks like Anti-Aliasing works in most titles now with nVidia... But with ATI, this is not so... Interesting and I am close to biting... But then I might be a sad panda if 400 smackers goes the way of the... :D

You could just get some 3d goggles. I think those are cheaper and you could try out the effect. I'm waiting for 3d monitors where you don't need these goggles like those old arcade machines with 3d holograms though really crappy gameplay like time cowboy.
