i have a e-drawing model of a gun that needs to be skinned. i can get the entire solidworks model. what/how do i go about skinning the model to make it look real?

or is there a place i can download 3d models of different guns that are already skinned and can be scaled without any jaggies? what type of software do i need to do this(free is good)?

thanks in advance

none, i was going to use the free 3dmax like item that a lot of people use in texturing for bf2, can't remember the name off the top of my head. do these programs usually have textures with them? is there a better program to do this with? can i get textures? do i make them in ps? in this arena, i am greener than green. size of the finished graphic is not an issue, but photo quality is.

thanks in advance for the help

The only 3D modelling program I have practice with is Caligari trueSpace 4.3. If you want your weapon to have cheetah spots all over it, I might be able to help with that. Or make it actually look like a firearm too, if you insisted. If you want to send me the thing you're starting with, I'll see if I can do anything with it in my crummy old Caligari software  tmcfadden -at- omnicast ° net

Cinema4D has a free limited time trial I believe, Milkshape does as well. Milkshape is a very basic program though, not quite as many features as C4D/3ds.
