You can receive only one run of the benchmark in trial mode! WTF?? Doesn't this look a bit exaggerated?

Yeah, Futuremark has started getting really stingy. They want $7 for what used to be free.:|

To pay for the cost of gasoline, I think?
And cost of living has gone ballistic, that's why.

The money is (and always has been) in the silly cost they charge for the commercial versions of it. Companies like Dell and AnandTech pay thousands of dollars to use the commercial version.

Its popularity is going to drop like a brick if that is true. As it is, few people take 3dmark seriously these days since the 06 version was so crappy. :p

Kiss my butt, one time use only for the free version. I'm not even going to bother wasting the time to download it then.

I hope someone makes a vid for us with ancient hardware... I looked at the screens and it looks very disappointing

Ok, got my free trial key and it looks that it works more then once, although it says that it doesn't. Maybe they've changed their mind!? :)

Yeah, if it was an actual game it would be good, but by 3dmark standards it doesn't look any better than 06 to me. I bet it still runs at much lower framerates though. :p

It will work more than once but you won't be able to view the scores.

it looks "ok"..nothing too exciting. The space stuff looked kinda cool, but all the game demos run like molasses here :) Might look better seeing all this 50+FPS.

Old 3dmark looked way better...i remember they once had nice stuff, like the nature scenes, the matrix scenes and the very old fantasy scene with the flying dragon years ago...3mardk gotten very boring. Yeah i got my score...done...nothing to see...get along. Why would i want to buy this?

I can tell these guys dunno how to write DX 10 code- especially shader balancing and simulating physics during GPU rendering - truth will come out when they make this open-source, it will run like crap if it isn't coded properly. It proves this benchmark is just another number game.

So, after all it doesn't work more then once. I hate it.

Yup.. 3dmark 2001 was the bomb... I watched it over and over and never got bored, it was miles ahead of games at the time.. 03 was also very impressive with the space scene, bringing pixel shaders and stuff (and I had just gotten my shiny new 9700 PRO, those were the days)

But after that it went downhill

I couldn't resist, got the following email and took advantage of it. Can't wait to get home and see how it runs on my x48 CF setup, although I can only image how it will bring it to a crawl.

We have released our latest 3DMark® Benchmark: 3DMark® Vantage for Windows Vista?. As a current 3DMark06 user, we would like to let you know you may purchase the upgrade version of 3DMark Vantage for a discounted price of $15 (download version):

years ago you could use 3dm to show off your card...not anymore...

I thought the 05 version was quite nice too, just in terms of the graphics. 06 was underwhelming though, exactly the same thing with HDR added and excessively CPU dependent as well (even for its time).

Well that was a wasted download...

Q6600/2Gb/8800GTS(640Mb) - I watched the first test then hit escape. The graphics looked like they were from 5 years ago, and run at about 10fps. 3DMark06 looks infinitely better in terms of IQ and runs at much higher frame rates. What, exactly, is the point of this over-restricted POS?
